CHRISTIE-ELITE NURSERY
Christie-Elite, now owned by Fasque, is one of the largest forest nurseries in the UK. The business is based in Forres, Moray in the north of Scotland. The nursery has been in tree production for over 200 years. Christie-Elite is the only nursery in the UK selling both bare-root and cell-grown saplings.
The 220 acre site has an annual output of over 10 million trees. Christie-Elite is also a member of the Confederation of Forest Industries (CONFOR) and the Horticultural Trades Association (HTA).
Our seed orchard
In 2002 Christie-Elite established a unique seven-acre seed orchard at the Forres site, comprising a matrix of 40 genetically superior clones of Sitka spruce. The nursery was the first private nursery in the UK to establish its own seed orchard for the production of genetically improved Sitka spruce transplants. Once the orchard is in full production, Christie-Elite will be able to offer transplants with superior growth and timber production traits currently only available from cuttings.
